My Story

From a Curious 12-Year-Old to an Arkansas Cybersecurity Authority

Born in Oklahoma City, Mansour Simpier's journey into the world of cybersecurity was shaped by a unique blend of resilience, adaptability, and innovation. His father, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, and his mother, an Iranian immigrant, provided a rich cultural upbringing, blending courage and perseverance from vastly different worlds. These early experiences instilled in Mansour a global perspective that would later fuel his passion for technology and cybersecurity.

Growing up in military environments, Mansour developed a deep sense of camaraderie and service. His innate curiosity for technology emerged at a young age, as he tinkered with gadgets in what he affectionately called his "dysfunctional area," a corner of his bedroom filled with old electronics. This hands-on experimentation, though not always successful, ignited his passion for problem-solving and laid the foundation for his future career.

Life took a dramatic turn during the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, an event that gave Mansour his first glimpse into the importance of national security. Soon after, his family relocated to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he excelled academically and honed his leadership skills. During this time, he started his first entrepreneurial venture — a landscaping business — and later worked at a mechanic shop, further refining his technical abilities.

A pivotal moment in Mansour's journey occurred when, at age 12, he built his first home computer. This achievement set him firmly on the path toward IT and cybersecurity. Following high school, Mansour faced numerous challenges breaking into the cybersecurity industry, often encountering the frustrating requirement for prior experience. However, his perseverance paid off as he continuously improved his skills and found creative paths into the field.

His career took off while working at a comic and video game shop, where his business acumen grew alongside his technical expertise. By 2008, Mansour had gained enough experience to open his own cybersecurity company with just $3,000, transforming it into a thriving business serving community banks, credit unions, law firms, and other small businesses. His company's reputation for excellence earned over 400 five-star reviews, and Mansour established a strong social media presence.

Mansour's commitment to cybersecurity extends far beyond software and hardware solutions. He believes in a holistic approach that includes employee training, robust policies, and a culture of security awareness. His success stems from his dedication to continuous learning, staying ahead of emerging cybersecurity trends such as artificial intelligence and quantum-resistant encryption.

Despite his success, Mansour remains grounded, frequently giving back to the community through free cybersecurity training for small businesses and local organizations. His entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset have propelled him to the forefront of the cybersecurity industry, where he continues to protect and empower others in the digital age.

Looking ahead, Mansour's next goal is to develop comprehensive, affordable cybersecurity solutions for small businesses. With a focus on integrity, innovation, and service, Mansour is committed to creating a safer digital world while continuing his lifelong journey of growth and discovery. His story is far from over, and the lessons he has learned — both personal and professional — prepare him for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Outside the office, Mansour brings the same restless curiosity that built this company into everything he does. A few years ago, looking for a new challenge that would push him into entirely unfamiliar territory, he started training for his pilot's license — he's currently a student pilot, logging hours in the skies over Arkansas. The mindset that drives him to keep mastering cybersecurity is the same one that took him into the cockpit: prepare obsessively, stay calm under pressure, and never assume you know everything. Whether he's troubleshooting a ransomware incident at two in the morning or flying over the Arkansas countryside on a clear Saturday, the principles are exactly the same.

Strengthening Security in Community Banks & Credit Unions

Published September 2024 · 11 chapters · By Mansour Simpier, CISSP

"After seventeen years protecting community banks, law firms, CPAs, medical clinics, and Main Street businesses, I've learned one thing: the people who need cybersecurity the most are the ones who don't know what to ask, what to protect, or what they're even up against.

I wrote this book for them — to hand the everyday business owner the armor they need to walk into the digital world ready, informed, and shielded.

The bad actors out there profit from the misinformed and the unprepared. Let's make sure that's not you."
